Artist Statment
Natural phenomena and nature's cycles influence my work. Transitions and systems of space and time intrigue me. I work with elements of darkness and light, and use bold color to bridge the two. I am also curious about culture that is created around daily routines, ritual, and markings of time.

I was raised in Oakland and Berkeley. I am proud to call this culturally and bio-diverse place my home. I visit the hills and bay often. I walk around my neighborhood and I work in local schools. These environments are important places for me to connect and reflect about nature, society, culture, community, and the self. I learn and teach through environments. I balance my art practice with my role as a mother, educator, and caretaker. I explore these roles and try to untangle them. How much of this is innate and intentional in me? How much of it was expected and placed on me by culture and society? These are the questions I strive to answer and explore through my art and experiences I create for others.
